"Childhood's Favorites and Fairy Stories The Young Folks Treasury, Volume 1"

What can you see in Baby-Land?
Little folks in white,
Downy heads,
Cradle-beds,
Faces pure and bright.
What do they do in Baby-Land?
Dream and wake and play,
Laugh and crow,
Shout and grow,
Jolly times have they.
What do they say in Baby-Land?
Why, the oddest things;
Might as well
Try to tell
What a birdie sings.
Who is the Queen of Baby-Land?
Mother kind and sweet;
And her love,
Born above,
Guides the little feet.
GEORGE COOPER
* * * * *
Old Mother Hubbard, she went to the cupboard,
To get her poor dog a bone.
When she got there, the cupboard was bare,
And so the poor dog had none.
She went to the baker's to buy him some bread,
But when she came back the poor dog was dead.
She went to the undertaker's to buy him a coffin,
And when she came back the dog was laughing.
She went to the draper's to buy him some linen,
And when she came back the good dog was spinning.
She went to the hosier's to buy him some hose,
And when she came back he was dressed in his clothes.
The dame made a curtsy, the dog made a bow,
The dame said "your servant," the dog said "Bow-wow.
